ELO Ranking for a Private Sports Group
B-Admin-Time calculates an ELO ranking automatically from the match results recorded in sessions — separately for singles and doubles — so the group organizer doesn’t have to keep their own scoring spreadsheet.
How it works
After a session, the admin or the players enter the match result (on a court, or as an extra ad hoc match). The system uses it to update every participant’s ELO rating — a win raises the points, a loss lowers them, and the size of the change depends on the difference between the ratings before the match (just like in chess). A draw counts as 0.5 points for both sides.
What a player sees
- Their current ELO rating — singles and doubles separately.
- The points change from the last session (e.g. +12 or −7), not just the final value.
- Head-to-head history against a specific opponent — solo and as a doubles pair.
- A session summary with highlights — the closest match, the session MVP.

It’s more than just a ranking
ELO shows your level relative to the rest of the group, but it isn’t the only way to track progress. Statistics show each player’s individual development over time, and the badge system also rewards regularity, time in the group or help with organizing — not just winning. That way the game makes sense even for people who don’t care much about the ranking itself.

A group can also turn on anonymous player ratings after a session, and admins get a “Statistics” panel with a summary of the group’s activity.
Who it’s for
A ranking makes sense where a group plays regularly and wants to know who actually wins more, not just who shows up more often. It’s a natural extension of sign-ups and settlements — the same sessions that players sign up for are also the source of the ranking data.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to calculate ELO points by hand?
No. Just record the match result in the session and the system recalculates the ELO rating of both players — singles and doubles are calculated separately.
What happens with a draw?
A draw counts as 0.5 points for each side — just like in the classic ELO system.
Can I see how the ranking changed after the last session?
Yes — next to each player you see the ELO points change from the last session (e.g. +12/−7), not just the current ranking value.
Which plan includes the ELO ranking?
The ELO ranking and match results are part of the Pro plan.
